Another reassuringly sturdy-sounding Prank release roars out the traps, this time the second full-length from crusty anarcho punkers Born/Dead. This big ol’ bastard plonks itself part way between the gruff, ground-razing fury of a slightly-less-gloomy HHiG and the rabble-rousing UK82 of Criminal Damage for a sound that’s hefty and urgent yet pretty catchy with it. While we could’ve maybe done without the Cress cover (“Sirens” rather sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the originals…) the rest of it is solid and snarlingly up-front, all nicely tied together with some unobtrusive ambient/experimental moments that add to the overall feeling of doom and desperation.
