Gliss have a pretty generic sound, but it’s the kind of thing that gets me rather excited. Gliss play poppy, dreamy shoegaze of the kind where the vocals drift in and out of earshot effortlessly, if you close your eyes and stop thinking for a moment, you won’t even notice them. Of course, it is all very typical and sounds exactly like what you’d expect from a band playing this kind of thing. My Bloody Valentine filtered through a bit of grunge, and then applying a distorted layer of pop on top. It is coming off as similar to stuff like Silversun Pickups in places. “Morning Light” has a big, atmospheric sound that pounds away gently, coming on like a massive cuddle rather than an ear crushing din. I am particularly fond of music of this nature at the moment, having been utterly obsessed with the Katie the Pest album. This isn’t in the same league as KtP, but it isn’t that different either. I hope we get sent the album for review, I want to hear more.
