I haven’t bought or been sent a punk 7″ for a long time, I always think to myself I need THAT band to come and give me a kick up the arse. I have a hunch Nervous Dogs might be it. This 7″ nods pretty hard to the best things that happened in the 90s in the US Indie/Punk scene but doesn’t grab all the cliches along the way, it’s not just some Dinosaur JR rip off or some band that didn’t make it onto Sub Pop, these guys have an edge to them. Rousing, yet not in an oh so easy and horrible “WE’RE ALL DRUNK LOL” kinda way, think Satanic Surfers chorus, then flipping back into a fuzzy lofi indie wall of noise for a minute, always keeping you on your toes. There is even some galloping HC bits on here. The 7″ is 5 tunes in total, and they seem to give a shit about showing you what they can do on a small piece of wax.
