Verde - The Undeserved CUrrent - CD (2006)

Labels: bakery outlet
Review by: Chaz Hewitt

Verde is the project of a guy called Sean and a collection of his buddies. Hushed vocals, mellow guitars, spacey keys and distant drums, this is very nice and relaxing. Quite lo-fi recordings, and not in a hipster bullshit way, just in a nice and simple recordings for maximum effect type of way.

The guitars make me think a lot of the early Shins stuff, but definitely a more chilled out and potentially stoned version of that band. Maybe Guided by Voices too, but who cares?

Regardless, this is great stuff. At 18 songs I thought it might be too long, but the tracks are really short. They are all layered really well, lots of nice subtleties here and there, which make the album flow brilliantly.

Another great release on Bakery Outlet. If you like fun and mellow indie rock pick this up. Definitely a summer album I reckon.

And I just read that Sean did a lot of album art for twelve hour turn so this gets added emo points aswell!
