Afternoon Naps - s/t - 7

Labels: Happy Happy Birthday To Me
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Holy crap this is so good. I must admit, I almost wrote this review after checking out the cover. Didn’t even need to put the record on. Anyway, Afternoon Naps is just super twee indie pop with a keyboard. It’s a bit like Tennis, plus early Mates of State (super early Mates of State, like first singles), but maybe I am just saying that because of the keyboard. Or it’s cuteness. Mostly there is a dude singing, but sometimes there is a gal too. It’s impressively simple stuff, no surprises in store from the moment you hear the first note of the first song. On the second song they have chimes. It’s so gentle and nice. Arch C-Zine furymeister, David Giles, bought this off my distro, I’d love to know what he makes of it. I almost considered asking him to do a review but you’re stuck with mine now.

Just tried playing side B, but it’s blank.
