Got this as a freebie for spending an obscene amount of cash in a Tokyo record shop and shit me if it’s not some good stuff. The deal is thus: bods from Judgement, Tetsu Arrey, Forward, World Burns To Death all joining forces to create an enormous sonic punch in the fucking head. The sound is fresh, urgent and MASSIVE as it combines riproaring leads, enormous chunks of riff and a raging mix of male n’ female vocals. ‘Shanguri-La’ kicks shit off in classy fashion, with some soaring female vox weaving in and out of the gurgly grunts and hurtling hardcore in a manner that seems a tad weird at first but ultimately works really well once you’ve gotten used to it. ‘Like Water’ is similarly meaty but a bit more straight-up in its approach, following the template set overleaf with widdling solos careening all over the shop while enormous bugger-off riffs collide with one and two angry so-and-so’s holler their bloody heads off. Pretty darn good, I’d say!
