Terrible Feelings - Impending Doom - 7

Labels: Lack of Sleep – Sabotage
Review by: Andy Malcolm

A pair of post-punk rockers here from these Swedes that remind me of the recentish Hannah Hirsch LP on Adagio. This is pretty poppy with strong female vocals whilst the driving, raw edge it offers brings to mind stuff like the Observers. The music might sound upbeat but the lyrics are substantially bleaker than the catchy vibes that the guitars give off. I mean, “To my unborn child, there is nothing to enjoy in life”. Crikey.

The production gives it an early 80s feel, and it’s a little cheesey when it hits the soaring chorus on “Impending Doom”, but man, this is some enjoyable music right here. The band has nailed their sound and you can tell right away they have the potential for a cracking album in them. For the meantime, this pair of songs will have to suffice, which is no bad thing at all.

The bass player in this band is called Willy Burn. This may or may not be his real name.
