The Falcon Five - Soft Speak - CD (2011)

Labels: Beau Travail – X-Mist
Review by: Ted Reynolds

The bio tells me a comparison to Les Savy Fav is a bad thing, but if you ask me its a perfectly good comparison, and not a bad thing. Les Savy Fav are good, and so is this. A really enjoyable dancey post punk album. It even has a bit of that kind of Swedish garagey sound to it as well, there’s even a mild feel of Afrobeat. Not to everyones taste, but Graceland is one of my favourite records therefore you can get lost. One of the songs reminds me of the Futureheads too, in fact this album gets better song by song.

Songwise it’s all good, the one that is just called ‘song’ is a fine example, with some nice backing vocals, a great bass sound, and really good dancey guitars. This theme follows throughout.

An excellent example of the genre, all good as far as I’m concerned.
