This is a 3 way split put out by Time as Colour as part of a series. To be honest, the other two look a bit more exciting than this one, but it does the job as a first instalment.
The first band is ‘I found myself in Austin, Texas’. I’d say this song was 50% good and 50% bad. It’s mostly kind of generic screamo, but there are two or three really good riffs, which definitely save it. They were the only band on this comp I wasn’t familiar with, but the song hasn’t really inspired me to check them out further.
‘Bail’ contribute one song split into two parts on this comp. One for each side. The first song is really short and doesn’t really do much for me, but the second song is awesome and easily the best song on this comp. It reminds me of Shoulder, especially in the chorus, in fact if it wasn’t for the vocals (which to be honest aren’t even that far off), if someone told me this was an unearthed shoulder song from years back, I probably wouldn’t argue with them. This song is a lot better than anything off their split with Wishes on a Plane.
The final song is by ‘Her Breath on Glass’. If you’ve heard anything by Her Breath on Glass before, then you’ve already heard this song, as all their songs (The ones I’ve heard anyway) all sound the same. If you haven’t heard HBOG before, then basically It’s a two piece emo band fronted by the singer of the saddest landscape. They sort of sound like a stripped down, rawer version of the saddest landscape, but are more boring. It’s not that It’s a terrible song, but like a lot of their material, the song just meanders along at the same pace and doesn’t really go anywhere.
