The coolest I have ever felt, was on the day in 1996 when I purchased an album called Ki-Oku from Lizard Records, the only independent record shop in Colchester.
I went in (on the day it came out) and asked the girl behind the counter if they had a copy and the look she gave me was a fillip like nothing I had yet experienced up to that point in my life. The fact that after listening to the album for a few days, I put it in a drawer and listened to Moseley Shoals for the fiftieth time that week is neither here nor there.
Track one on this album brought back memories of Ki-Oku and that morale boosting encounter at Lizard Records; what tracks 2-6 sound like I have no idea because the internet wouldn’t let me listen to them.
