Column Of Heaven - Holy Things Are For The Holy - 7

Labels: Iron Lung
Review by: Alex Deller

Expecting the unexpected is generally a wise move when it comes to Column Of Heaven, but even those who think they’ve got the band’s mangled, mutant powerviolent racket pegged might be thrown for a loop with this. Bringing together foraged sounds, early industrial, searing discords and maniacal bursts of speed it’s a total assault on the senses despite its relative brevity and haemorrhages ideas as though members’ collective skulls simply gave up trying to contain them all. Atypical, even for a decidedly atypical band, but brilliant with it and one for fans of Pig Heart Transplant and Iron Lung’s more noise-damaged, industrial leanings.
