Taxa - Resurrection Year - 7

Labels: Hex Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is my first time hearing Taxa and you can count me in as very impressed. Their music fully occupies areas that keep me interested, the main focus of those being the big bubbly basslines that are a perhaps like a more subdued Shotmaker. The music has this strange menacing edge to it, like it’s just sitting there, waiting to explode, hoping you won’t provoke it. The music builds and the vocals fit it perfectly, just hanging in there. “œAnd I will waste my life, until this body breaks”. Flipside “œL’Appel Du Vide” also knows how to get my attention, kicking in with a singular guitar before introducing big booming Moss Icon style drumming, then adding the bass. These folks are wise to the “˜mo, that’s for sure. The vocals on this side start off intently spoken before exploding into furious yells as the music spirals around it tightly. This is really rather excellent, and I will be keeping my eyes and ears out for this band for sure.
