Systematik - Bondage - 12

Labels: Sabotage
Review by: Alex Deller

As is infrequently the case with this whole d-beat lark, Systematik are actually pretty recognisable thanks to their searing energy and the sneering snarl of their vocalist. This I appreciate rather a lot, as I do their having a guitar sound which approximates the noise a rusty sawblade would make as it grumbles its way through your shinbone. While the first side of the record passes in an intense blur they demonstrate some real songwriting nous with the tracks on the flip, which merge ragged catchiness with chest-tightening tension and suggest there’s more here than just guts, fire and vitriolic d-beat obliteration.
