At their best, MITB/Bastard Noise approach something mystical: a shapeless, genreless, insidious sonic goop that invades the cracks between your senses and threatens to fully take command. This latest release is a prime example, the first side lulling you in with a reasonably comfortable set of surroundings (whinnying bass; garbled vocals; chirring electronics) before the chaos of side B descends. This, a clamouring, void-straddling piece called ‘Long Pig’, bucks, turns and crumples inward before vomiting itself afresh, employing the distinctive vocals of Kris Force to tremendous effect and forcing you to question why you actually bother listening to anything else.
