Digging this, 5 song tape from these 4 folks who appear to be from all over the shop up north. “Be Yourself” skitters into play first up, all sorts of nervy, semi-spoken vocals. Good stuff. But if you were one of those reviewers who wrote a review after listening to only the opening song (WHAT?! HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY THINK THAT!), you might be a bit scuppered. “I Am the 3rd Bedingfield” is a lot bouncier and poppier, and “Kitten” is straight up indie-pop, all pleasing strums and none of that evil rock and roll you’ve been hearing about on the news. Probably more in line with what you’d expect from a band called “Camp Shy” tbh. So, I think you get the picture – this is quite a varied release, as befits a debut – a band still working out what sound fits them best, maybe they all do. Whilst it might not glue together like my favourite releases tend to, there is plenty of enjoyment to be gleaned from this tape.
Massively impressed with how they’ve made their Tumblr look like a Geocities website. Tables!!!
