Betunizer - Enciende Tu Lomo - CD (2015)

Labels: BCore
Review by: Alex Deller

Valencia’s Betunizer are a new name to me, though they’ve been around since 2010 and released three records before this. One of these albums is, unfortunately, entitled ‘Boogalizer’, but given that this latest effort is pretty smart I guess I can forgive them this not inconsiderable sin. The band deal in neat, pulsing, herky-jerk stuff that could either be post-punk or post-hardcore depending on which angle (and there are many angles) you view it from. The strongest vibes I get are of The Skull Defekts and latterday Ex, though there’s also something of Q & Not U or Supersystem in their cheerfully taut ebullience and the fact that for all the spiky edges you’re more likely to have fun listening to ’em than come to any real harm. It’s an impressive, entertaining and thoroughly kinetic listen … enough to make me want to check out more, though admittedly I might be leaving ‘Boogalizer‘ ’til last.
