Ferocious, chunky hardcore here that blurs the line between grind and power violence. The largest part of this, their first full-length release, recalls various moments in the career of Capitalist Casualties, from the thuggish belligerence of the early 7″s (‘Raised Ignorant’ and the MDC split, say) through to the rangier fury of ‘Subdivisions In Ruins’. This is tempered by influences drawn from a more modern, ‘pro hardcore’ school of thought that I’m rather less fond of – bands like ACxDC, Magrudergrind and their kith spring to mind – that lends a flatpacked rigidity to proceedings. Ultimately, though, the former influences and all they entail (blank-eyed fury; ceaseless determination…) win out, and you’re left with a satisfying, 28-minute blast of hate, rage and cynicism that mightn’t blow your mind but will at least raise your pulse by a good few beats.
