Drose - Boy Man Machine - LP (2016)

Labels: Orange Milk
Review by: Alex Deller

Know next to nothing about Drose beyond the fact that I loved their 7″ and the split tape with Murderedman, and thought they had the potential to create something pretty special. Turns out they could and this is it: a deep, dense slab of I’m-not-quite-sure-what that clanks and groans like the ghost of early Swans drifting through an abandoned factory. Pretty much everything about it is eerie, oppressive and horrible, drawing vague sonic associations with Locrian (grey; grainy; bleak), Muscle & Marrow (pained; harrowing; bleak) and a de-horned God (merciless; aggressive; bleak) while ultimately standing cold and alone in an unforgiving universe of one.
