Gillian Carter - Eyelet - split - 7

Labels: I.Corrupt

Gillian Carter are now going for the one minute whirl of chaos sound (they’ve ditched the mouth organ) and it’s okay though not a patch on the likes of Usurp and Neil. They have a typical modern screamo sound and there can be few complaints if you continue to follow this genre in 2017, though one is that they can’t get away with the mostly instrumental second song ‘Anguish’. Maybe on a longer set of recordings, but it turns out to be nearly half of their side.

Eyelet play far longer songs and also have an instrumental side, harking back to when post-rock screamo was a thing. It breaks up the screams well but in truth the screamy parts are not all that great, unless I’m missing something.
