Cloud Rat is Cloud Rat is Cloud Rat. Vengeful, variegated hardcore that just doesn’t stop. A cleaner, clearer No Statik or Scrotum Grinder springs to mind for the first three songs, and then they throw in a weird n’ woozy Electric Deads cover to close, just to lob us a curveball. Crevasse are an odd proposition, which makes them a good companion for Cloud Rat. They have an awkward, lumpy sound that seems to be equal parts dirty European crust, grumpy Bovine Records thud (think Thug; Fork etc.) and weirdo 90s outlier hardcore a la Three Studies For A Crucifixion. Needless to say this makes for an intriguing mix, and one I certainly wouldn’t mind hearing stretched over the course of an LP. Solid stuff all round!
