Four new tracks from this Turkish death metal trio, but what ‘Vengeance Of The Fallen’ (isn’t that a Transformers movie?) might lack in run-time it sure makes up for in terms of depth. Huge, squamous riffs burrow and erupt, dark melodies flow and vocals rumble like old things awakening from their aeonic slumber. While that might appear rather par for the course in terms of old school death metal, Engulfed not only nail their sound but also, crucially, their songwriting: each track is chock-full of memorable riffs and clever percussive tricks that elevates them beyond the workaday rank and file endlessly aping Morbid Angel, lodging each song in your brain like some kind of cruel septic barb that drives you mad with pain and yet has you hungry for even more.
