Do you miss Clairmel? Buy this 7″! On second thoughts…
The title track is about as close to that style as you’ll hear. Full on emotional, melodic rock, strained vocals that are almost identical, and a whole lot of punch. Builds up to a big chorus where they rock and shout louder. Melodic and catchy. Has a break down part where it all gets quiet. Ah, whatever. And whilst I sort of like the first song, I don’t like “Breathing Room”. This time the music has a slight Avail or HWM edge to it. What is this lyric – “I don’t speak French, you know that it’s a shame”. Huh? All of the wannabe ’emo’ lyrics in this song are terribly cliched.
I’m sure a lot of people will like this band, but it’s nothing new, and there is a thanks part which includes “anyone who loaned us stuff when we break our own, and especially all the ladies”. Puke.
If you demand anything remotely innovative then avoid, you’ll not be even vaguely moved by this. If you like emotional rock music, buy it, you’ll fuckin’ love this. Simple. No surprise, I fall into the former. Damn my elitism.
