Scorces - Vivre Avec La Bete - LP (2003)

Labels: Eclipse
Review by: Chris Bress

I read about Scorces in the “œnew weird America” in the most recent Wire and was intrigued as to how many bands were doing that whole collective group noise/hippyrock/drone thing. Scorces featured quite a bit in the article and I liked the sound of ’em, picked this up from Rough Trade on a recent trip to London and was both blown away and scared to pieces! I got home around 1am from my trip and was really tired and out of it. I stayed up till late reading and listening to my new records and out of all the records I got this has to be the strangest. After I had been listening to the bizarre folk-drones of Scorces for about ten minutes I looked out of my window and saw a fucking massive dog staring in at me. Scary and surreal, just like this record. It’s like the sort of music a White Witch would make out in the forest. If you see it buy it its very limited and incredible.
