Crowpath - Son Of Sulphur - CD (2005)

Labels: Willowtip
Review by: Kunal Nandi

This band is unbelievable. It’s the sound of a rock band struggling with its own attention deficient self. They think up great riffs and manage to hammer them out for about two seconds each before some compulsion forces them to immediately move on to the next one, perhaps returning to the very best ones as some sort of concessionary touchstone. Crowpath are experts at variation. The about-turns are neck-snapping, and when they do slow things down to a crawl (see “The Lycanthrope””) it’s almost excruciating after the horrifying grinding blur. “”Red On Chrome”” was an excellent technical metal hardcore album but they’ve managed to keep in the spirit of things whilst still managing to up the ante. Like I said unbelievable.”
