Twisted - Daydream - 7

Labels: State Run
Review by: Oli Saunders

I have never been much of a fan of garage punk but these guys have totally won me over with this record. Fast paced and fun, they race through four tracks in six and a half minutes on this 7” which is the vinyl version of their demo. There is a great choppy guitar sound to the proceedings and I am a big fan of the vocals, with a main vocalist alongside occasional backing vocals. It just all works so well together. The tracks are simply labelled ‘One’, ‘Two’, ‘Three’ and ‘Four’, I think I slightly prefer the first side but all the songs are good. There is a nice change of pace on the final track, it’s got definite hints of The Clash in it.

The guys who recorded this demo are actually three of the four members of Facel Vega, with only Jon also appearing in the band on guitar and backing vocals when they play live. I saw them play the other day and they obviously sound a little different but just as good. And these guys have just recorded a new 7” to be released on Art For Blind. So keep a look out for this in the upcoming months and catch them live if you can.
