I’ve not heard any of this band’s stuff since the rather spiky and stylised hardcore debut Sundowning. With this release they have however placed themselves firmly in the thrash camp. And by thrash I mean thrash metal in the old school Anthrax, Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies or latterday Municipal Waste sense. And I mean exactly in the Anthrax, Megadeth, Suicidal Tendencies or latterday Municipal Waste sense. You close your eyes and this could be the outtakes from Lights, Camera, Revolution! – albeit without the black humour or political subversion, but nonetheless with a similar verve and pace. What does mark this out is a superficial doom-y quality, the goat skull and zombie flag on the cover and some of the song titles giving this away “” but this seems to be the fashion at the moment, a la Cancer Bats and Axe Wound. I blame the Saw franchise and all those teen Vampire films personally. For all this, its hugely enjoyable and uncomplicated stuff.
