Puddle Splasher - Missed Connection - Download (2015)

Labels: Animal Style Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Some very decent indie rock here, quite lively and rocking with nice big riffs and some pretty catchy tunes. It loses a few points for me with the rather overdone vocals, think the singer fancies himself as a bit of a Jeremy Enigk at times and he certainly has range but it’s all a bit much for me. The fast and bouncy “œForget My Name” blazes along very enjoyably and is probably the pick of the bunch for me. Reminds me a bit of Joanna Gruesome actually. Whilst for some reason “œGentle Rain” reminds me of Oasis. There’s not a whole lot to add about this particular release. It’s decent, steady indie rock that cruises by. It’s only their second release so they can be forgiven for being a little indistinct, plenty of time to hone the sound into something really special. In the meantime I think they’ll certainly find an audience of people that appreciate straightforward, hustling, guitar rock.
