A predictably excellent collaboration (rather than a split) between Jensen and Jon’s two-man killing machine and bassist/vocalist wunderkind Alex Hughes, ‘Broken’ sees them augmenting and cherry-picking the best aspects of their respective outfits to churn out eight tracks that make you want to punch yourself in the fucking face and then punch everyone else in the fucking face too. Iron Lung’s ability to do that neck-snapping stop/start thing combines nicely with the Surge’s ability to steamroller out some seriously discordant yet catchy riffs, which means you basically have yet another record to track down now, and I mean right now!
