Crypsis - Choir For The Carrion - CD (2010)

Labels: Tadpole
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Tadpole branch out from their more traditional punk remit and turn up the goods yet again with another slab of Brightonian metal that comes hot on the heels of the ripping Malicious Disfigurement 7″. Crypsis’ debut release is thankfully free of any flipped cap ironic bullshit and chock full of quality, well-constructed riffing that while not going for total extremity instead works on the basis of solid musicianship and songwriting craft. There are plenty of catchy hooks on this thing, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that there aren’t any axe-swinging, fist-pumping speed metal moments, because it’s rammed full of those too. Classy stuff.
