Was coerced into buying this after a semi-drunken, reoccurring conversation about how dull I find Boston Strangler. My claim was that said band is far too proficient and have their sound down too pat to actually be anything like exciting. This, the debut full-length from No Tolerance, I was assured, was an example of things done just right, and since I’m an easy mark when it comes to being egged on to buy records – even more so after five or six pints of crap lager – money swiftly changed hands. Turns out the eggers-on weren’t selling me up the river, and this is something I’ve listened to steadily since picking it up: a 12-song lump of monomaniacal hc stomp that channels burly stuff like SSD and Confront, with maybe a little bit of Side By Side on the, umm, side. The riffs are the kind you can readily durr-durr-durr along to and the vocals sound worryingly strained, the whole thing coming off mean, menacing and as subtle as a brick through your living room window – exactly what you want from this sort of racket, really.
