On-point hardcore made by people who seem to have been in every Swedish punk band of the past 20 years. Exil kinda remind me of one of those turn-of-the-century thrash acts (ETA or DS13, say – both bands with whom Exil share lineage) but with the speed turned down a dab and the songwriting tightened up. ‘Warning’ sees them blast through ten tracks of fast, tuneful, well-played punk that sounds ‘now’ despite clearly drawing from a mix-it-up of classic, top-tier influences (Minor Threat, Poison Idea, The Adolescents, etc.). While the template is extremely familiar there are nevertheless plenty of surprises lobbed casually into the mix, making for something that continues to satisfy even after the initial adrenaline surge has faded away.
