Laughing Corpse hail from Washington DC and, here, play some off-the-hook hardcore that I can only describe as ‘careening’. Nervous bass runs scurry warily between chunks of jagged guitar while a singer hawks and gnashes somewhere nearby. The fast-paced rippers certainly take the skin off your face, but the band aren’t shy about slowing things down a notch: I like the way an awkward, busted-knee riff closes out ‘Nothing’, which is then followed by the prolapsing noise of ‘Chapter 7’. It’s a cool lil 7” – definitely one to pick up if you’re a fan of Void, United Mutation and The Scam.
