Review by: Luke Younger

Andy Malcolm’s favourite new band (huh? – Andy) comes in the form of Liars from Noooooo Yawwwwwwwwk. Along with Rye Coalition and the Rapture, they are probably the only other decent contemporary band around at the moment in this field of music. Liars play the whole Gang of Four, PiL, kind of thing which seems to be ever so popular at the moment with certain people. This LP has some fantastic moments – the first side is great and has the LP’s best 4 songs, while the other side peters out a little and is a bit average when compared to things like the latest Rapture material.

I’ve heard they’re meant to be a great live band, but I wouldn’t know since I have missed them every time they’ve played London in the last 6 months (thats 4 times, gig fans). This was on Gern Blandsten, but all future copies will be found on Blast First since Mute bought the rights to the record with EMI’s dirty money.
