I bought some records off one of the guys in this band and I thought I should give his band a listen as he had some pretty good stuff in collection and maybe it would transfer to his band. This is some emotional and melodic indie rock of some note and they come from Leicester. I saw them compared to Dowsing on a separate review and that was enough to get me interested. It definitely has something of Dowsing in the sound although it’s a little grittier and tougher. Not much tougher but they’d probably beat Dowsing up easily in a fight. I would also compare them to early Get Up Kids and probably Dugong for the recognisably UK sound they emit. All 4 songs are good but the first and last songs are real standouts. Both mid-paced and a pair of corkers. Final track, “Everyone, Always” wins it for me – there is a sadness and defiance to the lyrics and I love the way it crumbles at the end and the vocals are distant as the music disappears. This is a song that I can play over and over again – well good. A definite knack at songwriting on show here. This shows a great deal of promise and I’d love to hear a full length.
