Despite spinning at a brisk clip this one-sided 12″ feels like it goes on forever thanks to the extraordinary punishment it delivers. The vibe is extremely physical, with a real heft to the riffs and a threatening, all-encompassing sense of clangour smothering just about everything else. The track ‘Extinction’ has a killer moment that makes me think of one of Angel Hair’s uncannier lurches, though a more general comparison would be Citizens Arrest being driven into the ground by the obstinate, mule-headed cruelty of Rusted Shut. It’s absolutely grotesque but also tremendously exciting, and I really can’t wait for the full-length.
