Regen Graves - Herbstlicht - CD (2019)

Labels: Bloodrock – Pariah Child
Review by: Alex Deller

Another nape-tingling oddity from Regen Graves, who seem intent on stitching together drone, abstract electronica and horror movie aesthetics in the most unnerving manner possible. ‘Herbstlicht’ rumbles and whirs with ominous grace, stretching out the opening bars of a Fulci soundtrack for minutes on end and merging them with gone-wrong, haunted house Boards Of Canada vibes. Crackles, whines and elongated electronic squelches rub up against more organic sounds … echoing voices and the sound of dirty old coins being rummaged through … with the cumulative effect forcing you to repeatedly look over your shoulder even though you’re sure the room you’re in is empty.
