The Warren Commission - uncover / discover - 7

Man, this is easy listening. After some brain dashing assault of whatever the latest supposed screamo sensation is, it’s nice to be able to put on a tasty little circular piece of wax that doesn’t feature four songs on each side where the distinguishable features are limited to: “oooh, there was a Reversal of Man riff, ah! didn’t that bit sound like Orchid?”. Instead, I can say “oooh, there was a bit that sounded like Rainer Maria, ah! doesn’t the bass sound a little Promise Ring-esque?”. Beacuse the Warren Commission is simple indie pop, boy+girl dual vocals, bouncy music, light of heart and mind. And it’s all very nice and enjoyable, if not in the least bit challenging. Best of the three songs is “Finding Hearts: Hot Glued & Stitched Behind”. Jangly and happy sounding, nice stop-starty bass and some neat time changes would lead me to suggest it sounds like Braid meets Discount. Which is a positive. Just not anything out of the ordinary.

Very nice. I am not surprised that they dedicated the record to a cat. Bonus 1/2 point for that. PS – this is not emo. Anyone who tells you it is, is a liar.
