Not entirely sure where Unmothered are coming from, but I rather like ’em nonetheless. Over the course of these three hefty tracks I’ve variously thought “hmm, Disembodied” and “hmm, Helmet” and “hmm, Tombs,” and while none of these comparisons 100% nails it some sort of cross-pollinated version of the three does come somewhat close. Things are low and tarry but rumble along with a mid-paced surge, the weighty thunks tempered by spacier guitar wailings, ragged rasps and percussion that rattles all over the shop. All in all you can colour me pretty bloody impressed, really, and more than a little eager to find out where Unmothered take their monstrous racket next.
