La Bella - Ides - LP (2016)

Labels: Sombras Del Progreso
Review by: Andy Malcolm

La Bella blast through 8 songs of screechy screamo, only taking moments away from the fast riffs and yelling for the traditional contemplative parts. It’s kind of like Perfect Future but not as fully formed. It’s certainly rough round the edges, the recording clips frequently which is a bit of a shame but anyway, you still get a pretty good idea for where they are at. When it comes to screamo stuff in 2016, I am more likely to get fully engaged by a band that is wild and chaotic and not particularly beholden to what’s happened already, and this doesn’t really meet those conditions. It’s pretty straight forward and by the book but I appreciate their smart blend of energy and melody. They do mix things up here and there, “œSilver Springs” has some excellent spoken vocals, all nervy and frantic. Can definitely picture the singer intently bouncing around and clutching his fist / shirt / hair, then flipping out.

I think that these guys could easily find favour with a lot of people, they are good at what they are doing and if you like this kind of intense and driving hardcore then you ought to check it out.
