Caught this lot earlier in the year when they supported Cryptic Shift, and this EP delivers on the promise of their confident live show. The band bosh through three tracks of gnarly, groove-laden death metal that weighs hefty pummel against tricksier riffs and some nice, Death-inspired soloing. Occasionally I’m minded of the proggier end of thrash (Coroner or Watchtower, maybe?) but they refrain from going fully down that path, showcasing their chops but tending to favour straight-ahead crunch rather than vanish up their own wormhole. There’s interesting stuff going on lyrically (the band pull from horror, science fiction and philosophy…) as well as musically, meaning this is a fun lil nugget to chew over as we greedily await their first full-length.
