Intense and thoroughly enervating, ‘Decrepitizing Din Of The Cerebral Psyopticon’ is one of those records that makes you feel like you’re running out of oxygen within moments of putting it on. The sheer relentlessness is impressive but also terrifying, the band refusing to relinquish their grip on your throat as they blast through 19 bouts of grindcore that’s guttural and monomaniacal but also consistently interesting. Bar a couple of songs, things hover around the 40-60 second mark with shitslide riffing and demonically-charged drumming serving as an iron cage with which to contain the desperate, tongue-chewing vocals. The album brings to mind the early works of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Pig Destroyer, albeit dosed with the scummier, punkier tones of bands like Excruciating Terror. Given that the songs deal with the many, many systems that exist purely to ruin humanity’s mental and physical health it’s a suitably crazed sonic experience: one that won’t necessarily make you feel better about the state of things, but at least feels like an apt soundtrack to daily life’s deleterious effects on your brain.
