Strongarm - The Advent of a Miracle - LP (2010)

Labels: Blank Page Empire
Review by: David Giles

I couldn’t believe it when I saw that this LP was being reissued. Strongarm are one of my all-time favourite 90s hardcore bands. They play heavy, mid-90s metallic hardcore that isn’t a million miles off the 90s greats like Morning Again and Gomorrah’s Season Ends-era Earth Crisis, albeit more melodic and often a bit faster. I really like that they stood up for what they believed in without being too evangelical or preachy at their shows “” according to xstuckinthepastx and the guy who introduced me to them, at least. Its also nice to see people’s perceptions of Christian metalcore blown away. Today, Christian metalcore is largely relegated to the realms of shitty, posey, mainstream, side-fringe-sporting faux-metalcore wankers like Norma Jean and The Devil Wears Prada, or to moshy and silly ballbag bands like Jesus Wept. Waste of time. Strongarm, however, were great. Genuinely one of my top 10 90s hardcore records. I’m so pumped to see this reissued and you should definitely get a hold of it. Classic.
