Sludgy, muddy morass that seems to mix up Discharge, Dismember, All Out War and Hellhammer to varying degrees of success. Sometimes it comes across as borderline inept, while at others it’ll throw you enough of a curveball to raise a surprised “huh?!” which, I guess, is no mean feat since this is a four-track 7″ rather than any sort of magnum opus. The customary vomit vox are pebbledashed across a choppy tide of gurgling riffs, less, it would seem, an attempt at expressing anything in particular and more a way of adding further atmosphere to the sickening churn. While you never know whether you’re going to get protean riffs, melodic twiddlings or the Jesu-esque ambience present in ‘R.F.O.D.’ the results are more effective than not, and while very far from perfect there’s still enough to suggest that a lengthier Extermination Temple release could well be full of (un)pleasant surprises.
