Bunkur - Mordor - split - Download (2017)

Bunkur are a mind-battering hellscape of ultra-doom wherein form and shape are sacrificed to a shifting malefic presence that remains forever on the edge of peripheral vision. In their take on Carnivore’s ‘The Subhuman’ things swirl, clank and clamour. Caskets are opened; chains are rattled; a fiend howls. It’s that kind of thing, and they do it very well indeed.

Mordor, on the other hand, are well defined and do something that teeters between brilliant and ridiculous: a 16-minute riff on Venom’s ‘In League With Satan’. It’s proud, pompous, and utterly rousing, making you feel like you’re about to storm a city or go on a magnificent hunt. Wotan, I’m sure, would be gloriously proud.
