This starts with five tracks from the resuscitated Despise You. As you’d expect they have their sound down pat, but while the thick, gristly, metal-flecked power violence sticks to your ribs there’s something slightly sluggish about it – not so much the pace, but more the driving spirit. Also: needs more Cynthia Nishi. Coke Bust are over on the other side and tear through four tracks of tough, rough hardcore punk that’s kinda like how Negative Approach might’ve sounded if they were a youth crew act. It’s blistering and eminently satisfying, and I’m surprised to say that they actually win out over my long-term crushes on the flip.
