Sauna Youth - Lists - 7

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Three tracks of intense punk rock here from this lively band that makes it’s home in England, UK. Been a while since our paths have crossed, but Sauna Youth are still sounding good and on this here 7″ they are certainly exciting. “Bone Lawn” is sorta frenzied, sorta loopy. It has this kind of weird underlying garage element to the otherwise in your face punk, with a big wall of ugly sound and squealing guitars to keep you off balance. At the end they start firing off laser rifles. It works well. On the flip side they stick two sub 90 second brawlers that would nicely soundtrack an army of youths breaking into News International HQ and razing it to the ground. Obnoxious and snotty, but the lyrics are actually much more personally oriented than the abrupt sound might otherwise indicate. Anyways, Sauna Youth maintain their good start, I could only imagine that they are a lot of fun in the live arena.
